This Ain’t my First Rodeo (Actually, it was)

The North Texas Fair and Rodeo has been going strong in Denton for 94 years. It’s hard to imagine what this not so little town was like over a decade before the onset of World War II.

I’d never been to a rodeo before and I wasn’t sure what to expect. What immediately stood out to me was the sense of community present. It made the City of Denton (population 139,000+) feel like a small town of 5,000. Much like it probably was when the Fair and Rodeo first set up shop.

All in all, the rodeo was an amazing experience. Filming broncos and carnival rides alike in glorious 4K slow motion was an absolute treat. Before heading home I broke out the drone and grabbed a few shots of the Ferris wheel at twilight, smitten with the footage I was previewing on the back of the controller.

While I still couldn’t tell you the first thing about bull riding, one things for sure: I’ll be back next year. Family in tow.
