WOODWORKING

My Poppa, turning a piece on

the lathe.

A lifelong woodworker and craftsman. My Grandpa went to Vo-tech school, learned to make cabinets from solid hardwood panels, and loved spending time on his lathe.

Carrying on the family legacy. Circa 1995

Nothing says “craftsmanship” like hammering some nails into a block of wood.

In 2020, my Wife and I bought our first home. It left a bit to be desired from an aesthetic standpoint (hello popcorn ceilings!) but being the eternal optimist that I am, I saw it as a blank canvas.

We started with the basics like fresh paint, but as we lived in it I saw more opportunities to create a space that catered our needs. As my skillset (and tool collection) grew, I spent more time learning to create furniture, built-ins, and other odds and ends.

What I discovered was a love for working with my hands that I had missed while spending the last decade of my career behind a computer. And while I still love creative work, being able to combine my love for design and woodwork has proven to be an incredibly fulfilling pursuit.

Featured Project: Modern Maple Queen Bed

I knew building a bed in a one car garage would be ambitious, but it’s absolutely the project I’m most proud of. I made use of Festool’s Domino XL connectors for the rails, which make assembly and transport a breeze.

Complete with a full Master Bedroom renovation (note the wainscoting and door trim!) this has been my favorite project to date.

LOGO DESIGN

As demand for local projects began to increase, I created a logo for my woodworking side business that helps reflect the history of craftsmanship in my family, and the quality I aim for in each piece.
