An Overdue Update and Good News

It’s been awhile since we’ve done a written update, and I’m happy to say that Ellis has had a fantastic few months.

He had his mediport removed a few weeks back, and he handled the surgery beautifully. Maybe too well. Seeing someone bounce off the walls with so much energy in the days following a surgery is honestly a bit remarkable. Oh, to be 6 again.

We’re still visiting with his Oncology team on a monthly basis to keep an eye on things. We’ve continued to receive good news with each visit. He is in remission with no signs of cancer in his body. I believe in March they will be checking to see that his B-Cell function has returned to normal, so be praying for that.

He’s had a great start to Kindergarten with Mom, and is making great progress with reading and math. I think more importantly, we’ve settled back into a “normal” routine. Looking back on chemotherapy feels like 3 lifetimes ago. Personally, I’m okay with leaving that season in the rearview mirror.

As you can see by the pictures, his hair is coming back in strong!

We want to take another moment to again express our gratitude to all those who have supported our family in so many ways through this. We’ve received financial support from so many people to help with insurance costs. People have provided everything from meals and house cleaning services, to coloring books and lego sets to help occupy Ellis during his long stays in the hospital. Even words of encouragement from friends, family, and coworkers has been a huge help to all of us. Thank you all for everything you’ve done to help our son get through this.
